This beautifully structured and sophisticated Pinot Noir offers inviting aromas of black raspberry, wild strawberry, cranberry and red licorice, as well as more savory layers of forest floor and fresh mushrooms. The strawberry and raspberry notes continue on the palate, where they are underscored by good acidity and dusty, fine-grained tannins. Hints of berry compote and brown baking spices carry through to a lingering finish.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
To enhance its natural complexity and rustic charm, this wine was fermented almost entirely as whole clusters. Punch downs were done infrequently, and were done gently by hand. A basket press was used and the free run wine was drained into one- and two-year-old French oak barrels, and aged for 15 months.
Vineyards
In 2014, a very mild winter and spring resulted in early budbreak and bloom. While drought conditions continued in 2014, some extremely well-timed spring rains helped achieve a good moisture profile in the soils, and contributed to exceptional quality fruit. While everything happened earlier in 2014, a good size crop slowed the overall pace of ripening, ultimately providing approximately the same amount of hangtime as a normal year, but with the fruit coming into the winery well in advance of any fall rains. The grapes for our Cooper Pinot Noir were picked on August 19th, at 23.9˚ Brix.
