Dave Collin
Vineyard Manager
Dave Collin—Vineyard Director Dave Collin grew up in rural Minnesota. In the mid 1970s he traveled to Sonoma County to help a relative manage his Alexander Valley ranch. What started out as a short-term favor quickly evolved into the replanting of over 300 vineyard acres and a decade-long tenure as vineyard manager. During this period, Dave took viticulture and enology classes at Santa Rosa Junior College. Applying both his education and his farming instincts, he soon gained a reputation not only for growing great fruit, but also making great wine. In 1998, Dave won the prestigious title of “Amateur Red Winemaker of the Year” at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair.
In 1999, Dave took one look at the Stuhlmuller property, with its unique location and ideal geological features, and knew that it was where he belonged. As vineyard director, Dave is constantly in the vineyards overseeing Stuhlmuller’s meticulous viticultural program. In addition, he works closely with Leo and Fritz to ensure a seamless relationship between the vineyards and the winery.
